I was a manager for 40 years. Looking back, I wish there had been a coach beside me during those years.
I do not bring that experience into my coaching to tell managers what to do. I use it to help them look at difficult decisions with a clearer mind, lead their teams more effectively, and build a way of leading that is truly their own.
Fourty years of experience as a manager
No one is born knowing how to manage. I learned to be a manager over forty years by trying, learning, and sometimes getting things wrong.
Today, I use what those years taught me to help leaders see the challenges in front of them more clearly and find their own way of leading.
Thinking partnership
Today, I offer managers the kind of thinking partnership I needed during my own years as a manager. I think alongside them as they look at difficult issues more clearly, consider different options, and develop solutions of their own.
A people-centred approach
I put people at the centre of my work with managers and teams, creating a professional space where there is no judgement. I work alongside them as they discover their strengths, recognise where they can grow, and turn what they learn into lasting changes in the way they behave.

MY APPROACH TO COACHING
Awareness is important. But it is not enough on its own.
Many people already know what they need to change.
AWARENESS
Seeing yourself, your behaviours and your situation from a different perspective is the first step towards change.
INTENTION
Deciding to change what you have become aware of gives direction to your development. However, intention alone is not enough.
RESOURCES
Recognising and activating the internal and external resources you need supports the change you want to make.
ACTION
Turning awareness, intention and resources into concrete steps makes sustainable change possible.
Coaching is not about giving advice or providing information. It is about thinking together, broadening perspectives and supporting people in creating lasting change by drawing on their own resources.
My aim is not only to help resolve today’s challenge. It is also to support the development of thinking and leadership skills that can be used when similar situations arise in the future.
Coaching is a professional thinking partnership that supports the transformation of awareness into behavioural change.
